Château Laroze

Château Laroze (Grand Cru) ligger i Saint Émilion, Bordeaux.
Situation: Foot hill at 1,5 km from the village of Saint Émilion.

Slottets 27 ha vinmarker er beplantet med 68 % Merlot, 26 % Cabernet Franc, 6 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 

Slottet producerer 1. vinen Château Laroze Grand Cru, 2. vinen La Fleur Laroze og rødvinen Lady Laroze. 
To celebrate the presence of our family’s descendents in Saint-Emilion as wine estate owners for 400 years from 1610-2010, we decided to honour Nelly Gurchy, who founded Laroze in 1882, and Andrée Gurchy, Meslin’s spouse (her grand-daughter) who took the estate over and worked tirelessly to ensure its perenity, so that she could hand it down to her children. By launching Lady Laroze, a Saint Émilion Grand Cru in 2009, we pay homage to these women.

"In 1610, my ancestors the Gurchy family were already winegrowers in Saint Émilion. In 1882, they founded the family estate of Laroze Château Laroze is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé and its 27 ha vineyard is located at the foot of the hill to the north-west of the medieval village of Saint Émilion. The vines grow around the Château. We till the soil, cultivate grass between the rows, drain the plots, add organic supplements and prohibit the use of weed-killers, so that the vines’ roots find it
easier to penetrate the soil made of silica and clay. The quality of this beautifull setting is very favourable for the Cabernet Franc grapes providing us with rich tasty wines that are elegant and more-ish".
